Health and Safety

There are only a few areas in South Africa that are Malaria-risk areas, The Kruger National Park, Northern KwaZulu Natal and Zululand (situated on the southern Mozambique boarder).

Precautions to follow if you are travelling to a Malaria area:

  • Purchasing insect repellent and apply to any exposed skin
  • We recommend that you cover up if you are outside at night, long sleeve tops and trouser
  • Malaria medication can be recommended for the area you are travelling to. Ensure to take the medication and to complete the course.
  • Many establishments are equipped with mosquito nets, make use of these.

Africa is not for the faint hearted and you will find that all game reserves have rules and regulations that one needs to follow to ensure your safety at all times.

It is important to note that the animals you encounter on safari are wild and dangerous. Stay in your vehicle and ensure you keep a safe distance at sightings. Elephants are definitely one to respect, their sheer size and unpredictable temperament gives them the right of way.

Africa does have a number of creepy crawlies and venomous snakes. Keep your eyes peeled and always watch where you are walking, it is recommended that you wear closed shoes and talk with a torch at night.

A good thing to remember is to respect nature and wildlife and it will respect you in return, you are a visitor in their home.
